Chapter Outing – Hike at O’Neill Regional Park

Our second hike (in the company of the Long Beach Chapter) takes us to the highest point in O’Neill Regional Park. The trail will take us through the Vedanta Wilderness on the park’s west side to a 1500 foot summit from which we’ll be able to see the Santa Ana Mountains and, if the weather is clear, as far away as Catalina Island. Wildflowers should be at their peak following winter rains.

We meet on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 2 PM.

Directions: From Interstate 5, take El Toro northeast to Valley Vista. Turn right. Follow the road as it turns into Meadow Ridge. At the end of Meadow Ridge, park in the area at the intersection with Chisolm Trail. The trail begins at the end of the dirt parking lot, heading to your left between Norman’s Nursery and a row of houses. Parking is free.
